We have been working with Westfield on the design for Croydon for several years, to an ever changing brief, new design challenges and opportunities, with major institutional and governmental partners. Our urban design seeks to create distinct quarters for of-fice and commercial buildings, residential in alternate tenures, retail and enlivened food and bever-age centres to enable phased development over the future decade.
The project is a significant regeneration project comprising the redevelopment of the existing retail core of Croydon Town Centre, to create a network of pedestrianised streets, square and covered arcade / gallerias that combine to create real critical mass, world class retail experience and urban place making. Global flagship brands would congregate at a main square, the epicentre of the development, to form the retail heart. The project will dramatically impact south London’s relationship with the capital and surrounding suburban districts.
