Reading Office
Client: Confidential
Location: Reading
Project Scope: Office Refurbishment
Project Status: Competition

We were invited to compete for interior works to what had been dubbed ‘Readings ugliest building’.

The building is under multiple occupancy including blue chip corporations.

The internal atrium creates a dramatic, cathedral like space but is completely underwhelming in terms of engagement with the occupier.

The building owner recently acquired the asset and invited us to propose ‘low cost, high impact’ interventions to the common space.

The point of arrival to the building was addressed with a new reception space softened with vegetation, as was the vacuous atrium, which we proposed to be filled with joy, life, fitness, cooking, trampolining and airline business lounges and a military tank.

Unfortunately we didn't win the commission but we thoroughly enjoyed the design process.
